Aeris Aerial’s Drone Safety Rules
1. Purpose of These Rules
These rules exist to keep everyone safe during drone operations. Before flying, the pilot will give a short briefing to explain:
where the drone will fly
where you can safely stand
what to do if anything unexpected happens
Please follow the pilot’s instructions at all times.
2. Stay Clear of the Drone at Take‑off & Landing
The drone is most vulnerable and potentially dangerous at low level. Please:
keep well back from the Take‑off and Landing Point (TOLP)
do not approach the aircraft unless instructed
keep pets, children and equipment out of the TOLP
The pilot will call “CLEAR PROPS” before powering on the aircraft (standard FRC procedure).
3. Understanding the Flight Path
The pilot will explain:
the route the drone will take
the height it will operate at
any hazards to be aware of
where safe spectator areas are located
Please remain in the designated spectator area.
4. Listen to the Pilot (and Observer, if present)
The pilot is responsible for safety. If asked to move or stop an action, please do so immediately.
If an observer is being used, they also have authority to:
keep the area clear
warn of hazards such as aircraft, birds or people
request that you move for safety
5. Emergency Calls — What They Mean & What You Must Do
Aeris Aerial uses professional aviation-standard emergency calls, consistent with UAVHub FRC procedure.
If you hear:
“DRONE FAIL!”
Something is wrong and the drone may not be following the expected path.
➡️ Look up, locate the drone, and avoid it.
“MOVE MOVE MOVE!”
Immediate danger.
➡️ Move quickly away from the drone and clear the area.
“BIRDS BIRDS BIRDS!”
Bird hazard near the drone.
➡️ Be alert and avoid the aircraft.
“FIRE!”
Battery or drone fire risk.
➡️ Move clear instantly; the pilot or trained person will handle shutdown/fire protocols.
6. What You MUST NOT Do
Please do not:
attempt to touch or catch the drone
request unsafe flying such as flying near people, animals or vehicles
walk into the operating area or TOLP
distract the pilot during flight
stand beneath the drone’s flight path
7. Personal Safety & Comfort
If you feel uncomfortable at any time, simply say:
“I do not wish to participate.”
We will stop operations or reposition you to a safe distance.
8. Property Permission & Site Access
If the flight is taking place on your property:
you confirm you have authority for take‑off/landing
if not, please ensure the actual owner is aware and approves
9. Weather & Operational Limits
The pilot may postpone or modify the flight due to:
wind limits
rain
poor visibility
unsafe airspace activity
Your safety always comes first.
10. Your Role During Filming
You may be asked to:
stay within a specific area
avoid walking into shot
keep equipment/props out of the TOLP
watch for hazards if briefed as an informal observer
You do not need to operate anything — the pilot handles all controls.
11. What Happens if the Pilot Becomes Incapacitated?
If an observer is appointed, they may be briefed to press the Return‑to‑Home (RTH) button.
Clients and bystanders will not be asked to use the controller unless explicitly briefed.
12. Questions
If anything is unclear, please ask before flight begins.
We’re always happy to explain how and why we operate safely.
